Dear Sir

The other day, I received a formal questionaire which looked as though itcame from the Brent NHS, dressed up as "Brent NHS Inquiry". It had 45questions on 3 sides of A4 with an intro from Sarah Teather, Chair of BrentNHS Inquiry. It was only on my 3rd reading that I noticed in very small, size 1 font, the details for Brent Lib Dems.

Like many others, I feel this is misleading and opportunistic of the LibDems in their attempt to gain support. Did the NHS or the local council orthe CHC set up an inquiry? Who sits on this inquiry? Who elected Sarah theChair of the inquiry? I then phoned up the Lib Dem office and they admittedit was a Lib Dem campaign.

So what happens to the data collected? Who uses it? Many of your readers maycomplete the form and not realise it is a ploy by the Lib Dem's to save themactually walking the streets of Brent East and canvassing the way all parties have to. Maybe they don't like meeting the ordinary voters?

It is only when you turn over to the last page do you see a form asking ifyou want to help the Lib Dems. The questionaire may be a technical infringementy of the electoral laws and Data Protection Act, I dont know, but it is certainly misleading.

Perhaps there should be a full enquiry into the under funding of the NHS,the cuts arising from the establishment of foundation hospitals and the lowpay of health workers.Such an enquiry should be open to all health workersand users of the health service. All the Lib Dems have done is to cynicalyabuse the strong support for the principle of free health care at the pointof need and mass opposition that exists to privatisation of essentialservices.

That is why I support the Socialist Alliance candidate, Brian Butterworth, who puts people before profits.

Sincerely,

Alf Filer (Brent East Resident)
